Farmers in Nam Hang commune raise livestock for commercial purposes.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Hung - Head of the Economic Department of Nam Hang Commune said: Households in the commune mainly participate in agricultural production. To improve crop and livestock productivity and help people diversify their income sources, the staff office of the Commune People's Committee issued a framework and production schedule for key crops; identified production areas to focus on mobilizing people to convert. The implementation process has the accompaniment and support of professional staff "holding hands" from land preparation, sowing to care and harvesting. For the livestock sector, we also coordinate with the Commune Farmers' Association to diversify forms of propaganda, mobilizing households to build barns, raise livestock in the form of semi-grazing, and grow more grass for livestock feed.
The commune coordinates with specialized agencies to organize short-term vocational training courses, transfer production techniques to rural workers; implement pilot models of livestock and crop farming. At the same time, gradually improve rural infrastructure (intra-field traffic, irrigation, etc.). Thanks to that, new models, good practices and good economic households are increasingly appearing in the area; 3 products meeting 3-star OCOP standards have been built.

Once a poor household due to lack of capital and backward production methods, with the attention of the government and the Farmers' Association of the commune, Mr. Vu A Mua (Huoi Pet village) boldly changed the way of doing business. Mr. Mua shared: Because of small-scale livestock farming, my family did not focus on building barns and taking care of them, so it only served the needs of daily life. After learning and learning from the experiences of other households in the commune, I decided to switch to commercial livestock farming. Accordingly, I invested in building solid barns, planting more elephant grass, intensively cultivating crops, planting grass to have more food for livestock and especially paying attention to disease prevention and control. The livestock herd grew rapidly, helping my family have an average income of 100 million VND/year after deducting expenses.
Up to now, the whole commune has 477 households achieving the title of good production and business at all levels with an average income of 150 - 760 million VND/year, of which 7 households achieved the title at the provincial level; 470 households achieved the title at the grassroots level. Since then, it has contributed to reducing the rate of poor households in the commune to 11.06% and near-poor households to 5.8%.
It is known that the good production and business households of Nam Hang commune are active factors effectively participating in the new rural construction movement, ensuring social security of the locality. With new ways of doing things, bold changes and willingness to share experiences, support poor and near-poor households in terms of seeds and capital, the households are spreading the spirit of mutual love and affection in the community, creating motivation for members and farmers to compete in labor and production.
Promoting the achieved results, Nam Hang commune continues to promote the emulation movement of good production and business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty for the people. Effectively integrate resources to help people change the structure of crops and livestock, mechanize and apply science and technology in production.
