Trung Phuoc Town opens the 2024 Lady Thu Bon Festival

The festival takes place over 3 days, from March 19 to 21 (February 10 to 12 of the lunar calendar) with activities such as: royal edict procession, water procession; worshiping the spirits, ancestors, seniors; offering incense, releasing flower lanterns, carrying sacred fire...

Coming to the festival, visitors can also visit the Lady's palace, the Lady's well, and the Lady Thu Bon pond; enjoy cultural and artistic activities, singing Bai Choi, folk games, chess competitions, athletics, etc.

According to legend, Lady Thu Bon was a Cham female general. During a failed battle, she headed west to Phuong Ranh and chose this place as her military base.

Here, she ordered soldiers to dig wells, dig ponds, grow rice, raise livestock, taught people how to grow mulberry trees, raise silkworms, spin silk, weave cloth, and use herbs in the forest to cure people and animals. After her death, she appeared to bless the villagers to overcome many natural disasters and enemies.

To remember her merits, on the 12th day of the second lunar month, people hold ceremonies to give thanks and pray for her to continue to protect and bless the villagers with good health, prosperity, and smooth sailing.

The festival contributes to educating awareness of preserving and promoting cultural identity; raising awareness in managing and conserving historical and cultural values ​​and promoting the value of national intangible cultural heritage; contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people, creating exchange and cohesion in the community.
