On October 6, at the opening ceremony of the 18th career guidance program for the 2025-2026 school year with the theme "Gen Z - choosing a career in the AI era", journalist Nguyen Thanh Tu, Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Education Magazine, affirmed that there are still many students and parents lacking accurate information about their majors.

The opening ceremony of the 18th career guidance program for you to choose a career for the future, school year 2025-2026, took place at Hoang Hoa Tham High School (Gia Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Nguyen Pham Nhu Y, a 10th grade student at Hoang Hoa Tham High School, was instructed by a lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to use artificial intelligence (AI) in her studies.

After being instructed, Nhu Y asked to take photos with everyone to save memories.

According to journalist Thanh Tu, some "hot" majors are exaggerated, making students and parents confused about the values ( economic , ethical, status, honor) in work, creating heavy pressure on students' studies.

"Every year, the whole country has more than 1 million high school students entering universities and colleges. However, sadly, there are still many students who choose the wrong career, drop out or put their dreams aside; many students want to retake the university entrance exam the following year. This leads to thousands of students being unemployed after graduation..." - Mr. Tu said.

Ms. Truong Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the 2018 General Education Program is going into depth, along with the explosion of artificial intelligence (AI). Therefore, timely and correct career orientation is more urgent than ever.

"After the administrative restructuring process with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, Ho Chi Minh City has opened up many opportunities for outstanding development. In particular, focusing on developing 8 key occupations to create high-quality human resources. This is an important guideline for students when deciding on a career, contributing to building a civilized Ho Chi Minh City" - Ms. Thanh expressed.

The Deputy Director of the City Department of Education and Training hopes that with close coordination and dedication, the program will bring many practical values, helping students have enough knowledge and confidence to choose a career for a successful future.

Ms. Truong Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that the role of career guidance in education is very important.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Ky, Head of Professional Department, Southern Education Development Center - Ministry of Education and Training, shared an overview of careers in the digital age.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, listed 10 groups of developing professions that attract the demand for professional human resources in the digital age.
