Deputy Minister of Construction recalls memories with new Vietnamese maritime students

Attending the assignment ceremony for the 2025-2026 school year, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Xuan Sang recalled his memories as a student and lecturer at Vietnam Maritime University and shared, encouraged and motivated new students on the occasion of the beginning of the school year.

On September 23, Vietnam Maritime University held the assignment ceremony for the 2025-2026 school year.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sang - Deputy Minister of Construction , along with representatives of Departments, Divisions, Institutes under the Ministry of Construction, departments of Hai Phong City and representatives of nearly 5,400 new students of the 66th course.

Speaking at the assignment of tasks for the 2025-2026 school year, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Xuan Duong - President of Vietnam Maritime University emphasized that, after nearly 70 years of establishment and development, the staff, lecturers and students of the school have always been united, overcome difficulties, promoted the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, being proactive and creative and have excellently completed the tasks of the 2024-2025 school year.

Last school year, the school made efforts to innovate enrollment work, with benchmark scores for many majors among the highest in the country, increasingly attracting international students; promoting technology application, digital transformation, building a modern learning environment; achieving hundreds of scientific research results, international publications and many prestigious awards.

With these efforts, the school has been awarded many emulation titles by the Ministry of Construction. On September 19, the school was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the President .

Currently, the school has more than 20,000 students, nearly 1,000 staff and lecturers, modern facilities meeting regional and international standards. The school always focuses on developing its staff, promoting international integration, scientific research, social activities and volunteer movements.

The President of Vietnam Maritime University told the students to be proud to be new students of a school with nearly 70 years of tradition, which has been awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal and two noble Heroic titles. In particular, the Government has just approved the project to develop the school into a national key school.

The school was also selected by the Ministry of Construction as the only collective representing the Ministry to nominate typical advanced examples in patriotic emulation movements for the period 2020-2025 for the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
