When I was a student, every time summer approached, I felt extremely pressured, pressured because this was the time when we students were busy reviewing for the final semester exams. However, I still felt excited by the chirping sounds on the Royal Poinciana branches, which made me think that I had to try to concentrate on reviewing well to have a meaningful summer. My childhood has long passed and also experienced summers with the chirping of cicadas. When summer comes, I feel excited and eager as if I wanted to return to my student days, to start putting away my books and notebooks and then having fun and playing with my friends on the roads in the countryside, without worrying about studying or exams. During the day, I just go out and play comfortably with my friends, and at night, I sleep soundly until the next morning.

In those days, my friends and I often invited each other to go catch cicadas. On the country roads or even at home, the sound of cicadas chirping on the tree branches was deafening. However, it was easier for us to find them thanks to those chirps. At noon, none of my friends and I slept, so we made an appointment to go out in the garden and sneak up on the treetops to catch cicadas. At that time, we used long bamboo sticks, cut them into shapes, then attached a cloth screen to catch them. In the hot noon, the sound of cicadas chirping filled the whole garden like a summer music party. However, everyone slept soundly because they were used to their chirping. We put the cicadas we caught in a can, covered it with a net, and listened to them for fun. We took them out to look at them from time to time until we got bored and then released them. Sometimes we even compared the cicadas and decided which one was the wife and which one was the husband, or we saw whose cicadas were bigger and asked to exchange all sorts of things. Thinking about those moments made us extremely happy.
Many people say that the sound of cicadas is not interesting or enjoyable, the noise makes my head hurt, but for me, it is the sound that symbolizes summer, the symbol of childhood. Sometimes I think that if summer days did not have the sound of cicadas, it would be very boring. Under the shade of green trees, the sound of cicadas still resonates in my ears, my friends and I play hide and seek, dragon and snake, marbles... Whenever we get bored of a game, we switch to another game, while playing, listening to the sound of cicadas blending into the peaceful atmosphere of the countryside creates an extremely enjoyable feeling. The sound of cicadas is like a cheer for me and my friends to be more interested in playing. The whole group is so engrossed in playing that none of us know what it is like to be tired and forget when it is time to go home for dinner, causing our parents to have to look for us everywhere.
Many times, I feel like the sound of cicadas is like a love song to relieve my sadness. Whenever I am sad or angry, I often sit under a tree to cool off and listen to the cicadas perform music. The intensity of the sound gradually increases as if to erase people's fatigue and worries. Cicadas! Keep singing, sing more, spreading the sound of summer throughout the countryside so that later, no matter how far away, everyone will remember the sound of cicadas, the sound that symbolizes summer.
The sound of cicadas, the call of summer days, the call of childhood memories. Although I can no longer catch cicadas, no longer play childish games like I used to, the sound of cicadas is still somewhere in my mind. Through the sound of cicadas is also through the time of growing up and maturing, is an unforgettable emotion that makes me cherish more the beautiful memories of that time.
