Holding the Hanoi Moi Newspaper this morning, my heart was filled with emotions thinking about the past years. It has been exactly 100 years since the birth of our country's revolutionary press - a journey full of sacrifice, dedication and also great pride. And for me, who has been proud to stand in the Party's ranks for more than 30 years, the Hanoi Moi Newspaper has become an indispensable part of my spiritual life over the past decades.

I have been reading Hanoi Moi Newspaper since the time when it was printed on smudged paper, with worn-out covers, and had to be passed around to read. During those years, the newspaper was not simply news but also a guide, helping me, an ordinary cadre and party member, to understand more about the world, about the country, about the Capital where I was living and contributing.

In many Party cell meetings, I brought along the newspaper I had just read in the morning to discuss with my comrades. There were articles that “awakened” my thoughts, some that made me choke up, and some that made me reflect on myself. Today’s Hanoi Moi newspaper is more modern, more agile, and more astute, but its spirit and its disciplined, people-oriented, and people-oriented political commentary are still there.
