Continue to pay attention to and promote new cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and the Russian Federation

On the morning of October 23 (local time), within the framework of a working trip to attend the 2024 BRICS Leaders' Meeting in the Russian Federation, after a solemn welcoming ceremony at Kazan International Airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak.

Also attending were Minister of Economic Development Maksim Reshetnhikov and Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to be in Kazan city, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, for the first time and thanked the Government of the Russian Federation and the Organizing Committee for the warm and thoughtful welcome given to the high-ranking delegation of the Government of Vietnam, especially Deputy Prime Minister A. Novak and two Ministers of the Russian Federation who went to the airport to welcome the delegation and meet with the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister emphasized that over the past time, the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries have been increasingly developing well, especially after the State visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin in June 2024, along with many exchanges and contacts between the two countries' senior leaders, continuing to consolidate the political foundation of trust for the two countries to develop cooperation in all fields.

Expressing the respect and support of the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Vietnam for Russia's role as BRICS Chair, the Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam always considers Russia one of the top priority partners in foreign policy; is pleased to acknowledge the positive results in the multifaceted cooperation achieved between the two countries since President Putin's visit; and wishes to work with the Russian Government to seek solutions to strengthen cooperation in the coming time, especially in areas where both sides have strengths and potential, on the basis of mutual benefit.

Welcoming and conveying the greetings of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak affirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Government leaders highly value the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, considering Vietnam as a leading important partner in the Asia-Pacific region; at the same time, thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for attending the Expanded BRICS Leaders' Meeting in Kazan city; thanking the Prime Minister for his attention and strong direction for the relationship. The two sides acknowledged the positive results achieved in bilateral cooperation in recent times, including in the energy and oil and gas sector, which have made important contributions to the socio-economic development of each country.

In the context of many countries shifting to green energy, minimizing the harmful effects of global climate change, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Russian Government to continue to pay attention to and promote new cooperation opportunities with Vietnam, while continuing to effectively promote the cooperation documents signed between the two countries in this important field. For his part, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for Russian enterprises, including oil and gas enterprises, to be interested in and expand their operations in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully invited Deputy Prime Minister Novak and two Russian Ministers and extended an invitation to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to visit Vietnam in the near future.
