Body found near Trong Cave suspected to be victim of tourist boat capsize in Ha Long Bay

Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee informed that at about 2:15 p.m. on July 26, people at sea discovered a male body floating in the area behind Hang Trong Cave, near Conservation Center 2, under the Ha Long Bay Management Board, suspected to be a victim of the capsized ship Bay Xanh 58.

Immediately after receiving the report from the people, the forces of the Ha Long Bay Management Board proceeded to protect the scene. The rescue forces of Quang Ninh province quickly moved to the scene to recover the body, bringing it to Bai Chay Hospital to conduct identity verification procedures through DNA samples. However, the verification and identification of the victim will take time because the body is severely deformed.

According to authorities, the victim’s body drifted quite far from the area where the boat capsized. If the body is confirmed to be that of the victim of the QN 48-7105 tourist boat capsized, 39/39 victims have been found.

Previously, on the afternoon of July 19, while the tourist ship Blue Bay 58, number QN48-7105, was visiting route 2 on Ha Long Bay, it suddenly encountered a storm that caused the ship to capsize. The accident killed 49 people on board (46 passengers, 3 crew members). Of these, only 10 were lucky to survive. 38 bodies were found, verified, and handed over to their families.
