On the morning of October 28, the sky in Ho Chi Minh City was gloomy, with heavy rain appearing in many areas. According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the situation causing thunderstorms in Ho Chi Minh City was mainly due to the weak strengthening of the continental cold high pressure. In addition, the tropical convergence zone with an axis through the Central Central region connecting with the low area (weakened from storm No. 6) was operating with decreasing intensity.

It is forecasted that in the next 3 hours, thunderstorms will continue to develop, causing showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the above districts, then expanding to other neighboring areas. Rainfall is generally from 10 - 50mm, in some places over 65mm.

“In thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind of about level 5 - 7 (8-17m/s), heavy rain that can cause localized flooding” - Southern Hydrometeorological Station informed.

In the coming days, from November 1-2, the continental high pressure will strengthen again in the north of our country, and will strengthen strongly on November 4-5. In the southern seas, the West to Southwest winds will gradually decrease in intensity. From November 2, the winds will change to the northeast and gradually increase to level 5-6.

It is forecasted that from October 29 to 31 and around November 4 to 5, Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces will have scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
