At the invitation of General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam will pay a State visit to the DPRK and attend the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea from October 9 to 11, 2025.

Taking place in the context of Vietnam and North Korea celebrating the Vietnam-North Korea Friendship Year 2025, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, General Secretary To Lam's State visit to North Korea and attendance at the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea will be an important milestone in the history of relations between the two countries.

Previously, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and North Korea, on January 31, 2025, the leaders of the two countries exchanged congratulatory messages. The congratulatory message from the Vietnamese leader to the North Korean leader affirmed that, in the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and North Korea, personally built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, has continuously developed.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to and wish to promote the cooperative relationship with the DPRK to develop more strongly and substantially in many fields, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the two countries and the international commitments of each country, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Meanwhile, the content of the congratulatory message from the North Korean leader to the Vietnamese leader emphasized that the decision of the two countries to make 2025 the Year of Friendship is in line with the common orientation and wishes of the people of the two countries. The North Korean leaders expressed their firm belief that the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries will be continuously strengthened and developed, thereby encouraging and strongly promoting the socialist cause of the two countries.
