Summary of the medical friendship trip between Lao Cai

At the conference, delegates listened to a summary report of all learning, exchange and experience sharing on medical work between the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health and the Vientiane Provincial Department of Health in Lao Cai province from September 21-25, 2025.

Accordingly, a 10-member working delegation from the Department of Health of Vientiane province, led by MSc. Pharmacist Van Pheng Phanthanalai - Director of the Department of Health, paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, worked at the Department of Health, General Hospital No. 1, Lao Cai Provincial Center for Disease Control, Van Yen Regional Health Center and Sa Pa Regional Health Center. The working sessions focused on exchanging experiences in monitoring and responding to epidemics, improving vaccination rates, preventing diseases transmitted from animals to humans, health education and communication, financial and human resource management at autonomous units, applying digital transformation, developing technical services and building the brand of medical units, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment services.

The delegates unanimously appreciated the results of the working trip, especially emphasizing the content of sharing experiences on hospital autonomy, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, disease prevention, preventive medicine, human resource training and digital transformation application.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Nguyen Song Hao, representative of the Lao Cai Provincial Department of Health, affirmed that the 2025 cooperation program is a valuable opportunity for the two health sectors to enhance exchanges and learn from each other, contributing to improving management capacity, expertise and quality of health services. On behalf of the working delegation of the Vientiane Provincial Department of Health, MSc. Pharmacist Van Pheng Phanthanalai thanked the warm and enthusiastic reception and hoped to continue receiving support from Lao Cai province in training human resources, establishing high-tech testing laboratories and exchanging health workers to study and practice in Vietnam.

The 2025 health cooperation activities have made an important contribution to strengthening Vietnam-Laos solidarity, consolidating and developing comprehensive cooperation between the health sectors of the two localities, and creating a premise for more extensive and effective cooperation programs in the coming period.
