Touch ID won't be returning on the iPhone SE 4

According to TechRadar , since Apple introduced Face ID and began phasing out Touch ID on all iPhones from 2017, there have been many claims and rumors that the company would bring back the fingerprint sensor at some point in the future. However, a new report seems to completely dismiss that idea.

The information, posted on the Chinese social networking site Weibo, said that Apple has no plans to bring Touch ID back to its upcoming iPhones. The user who shared this statement has previously been a reliable leaker and predictor of Apple products. In addition, the leaker also revealed that most of Apple's Touch ID production capabilities have been shut down, suggesting that the company has no plans to bring the technology back to its devices anytime soon.

Touch ID will no longer be present on future iPhones

Currently, the only Apple phone that still uses Touch ID is the iPhone SE. However, that may not last much longer, as rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 4 - expected to launch in 2024 - will use Face ID, officially bringing facial recognition technology to all iPhones that Apple sells.

Speaking of Touch ID, there have long been rumors that Apple is researching a new type of Touch ID under the screen for future iPhones, but this idea doesn't really make much sense considering what Apple has stated.

Specifically, when the iPhone X, the first Apple phone to use Face ID, was launched in 2017, Apple advertised Face ID as being much more secure than Touch ID. The company said that while Touch ID had a 1 in 50,000 chance of being fooled, Face ID had a much lower chance of being fooled, at just 1 in 1,000,000.

So the idea of ​​Apple bringing back a technology they consider less secure is unlikely to happen. In addition, not to mention the disadvantages of Touch ID such as difficulty working if the finger is wet or when the hand is busy holding. It can be seen that Face ID is not only more secure but also much more convenient.
