The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has announced the reference questions for the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 for the subjects of literature, math and English as follows:

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 will be based on the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program, mainly grades 8 and 9.

In particular, the reading comprehension part of the 10th grade entrance exam for literature will use materials outside of the textbook. It includes literary texts and one of two types: argumentative texts or informational texts. The total length of the materials in the exam will not exceed 1,300 words.

The 10th grade math entrance exam will have a reduced number of practical problems compared to previous years.

The 10th grade math entrance exam will include the following knowledge streams: Geometry and Measurement; Numbers and Algebra; Statistics and Probability.

The test content aims to assess mathematical abilities: Mathematical thinking and reasoning; Mathematical problem solving; Mathematical modeling.

The exam will require students to apply their knowledge to solve real-life problems. Encourage self-study and creativity, and avoid rote learning.

The assessment test content aims to help students orient themselves with some necessary knowledge and skills when entering high school.

The 10th grade entrance exam in English has 2 new questions.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the 10th grade English entrance exam in 2025 will have two new questions on writing appropriate phrases based on given information. This question tests the ability to read notes in a dictionary to find linguistic information and apply knowledge.

It is known that the 2024-2025 school year is the first year that 9th grade students will take the 10th grade entrance exam under the new program.
