Tran Quyet Chien meets Egyptian player Sameh Sidhom in the final of the 3-cushion carom World Cup Bogota 2024. This is the opponent that the Vietnamese player defeated in the final of the 3-cushion carom World Cup Porto 2023.
As usual, Quyet Chien started slowly, letting his opponent take the lead. After 2 rounds, Sameh Sidhom led 8-4. In the 9th round, the Vietnamese player scored 7 points in a row to lead 13-12. After that, both sides competed for each point.
In the 17th turn, Quyet Chien scored 12 points to lead his opponent 31-29. It seemed like Vietnam's number 1 player would maintain his composure, but he continued to miss in the following turns, allowing Sameh Sidhom to lead 40-35.
At this point, Tran Quyet Chien's mettle was confirmed. He scored 13 points in turns 27 to 29 to win the 49th point. In turn 30, Quyet Chien missed his shot but Sameh Sidhom only scored 1 point. The Vietnamese player entered the table and ended the match, winning 50-44 after 31 turns.

The Bogota World Cup championship is the third World Cup title in Quyet Chien's career. Before that, there were the 2018 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup and the 2023 Porto World Cup. He is also the only Vietnamese player to win the World Cup to date.
The 3-Cushion Carom World Cup is one of six World Cups to be held in 2024 by the International Billiards Federation. In addition, the International Billiards Federation will host a World Grand Prix and a World Championship.
This year, Vietnam will host the World Cup in May and the World Championship in September.
Tran Quyet Chien is Vietnam's number 1 player and a hope in international tournaments. He is ranked 5th in the world. At the 2024 Bogota World Cup, the 1984-born player won all matches in the group stage. In the round of 16, he defeated the world's number 9 player Tasdemir Tayfun (Türkiye). In the quarter-finals, the Vietnamese player eliminated Kiraz Tolgahan before defeating Glenn Hofman (Netherlands, ranked 47) in the semi-finals.
Sameh Sidhom is ranked 7th in the world. He defeated Cha Maeong-yong (South Korea, ranked 23rd) in the round of 16, defeated world number 2 Dick Jasper (Netherlands) in the quarterfinals and defeated Morales Robinson (Spain, ranked 30th in the world) in the semi-finals.
