On the afternoon of September 13, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) held a conference to deploy the vaccination plan for livestock and poultry in the autumn-winter crop of 2023.

The mass vaccination period is from September 20 to October 5, with supplementary vaccinations organized monthly. Implementing the regular vaccination plan for livestock and poultry in the autumn-winter crop of 2023, localities have been reviewing the current herd in the area and proactively registering to purchase the quantity of vaccines of all types according to demand.

According to the plan, the vaccination rate for "red" diseases for pigs will reach 90% or more of the total herd; the vaccination rate for anthrax and lumpy skin disease for buffalo and cows will reach over 80% of the total herd; the vaccination rate for rabies in dogs and cats will increase by 10-15% compared to the same period in 2022; the vaccination rate for foot-and-mouth disease for buffalo, cows, sows and boars will reach 90% or more; and the vaccination rate for avian influenza will reach at least 80% of the total herd at risk and subject to vaccination.

The agricultural sector recommends that localities need to have a specific implementation plan, actively propagate so that local people can coordinate with specialized sectors during the implementation process, ensuring that vaccination progress is on schedule with a high rate. Livestock farmers need to voluntarily coordinate in disease vaccination work, pay attention to cleaning barns to contribute to protecting livestock. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine assigns staff to guide and supervise vaccination techniques, transport and preserve vaccines; inspect, supervise and urge localities to organize vaccination; conduct post-vaccination serum monitoring to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccination work at the facility.
