Following the success of the 2024 painting and sculpture exhibition titled “Once upon a time” - the theme “National Treasures”, in 2025, the artists of the H&A group will study and research the Northern communal house - a unique and typical cultural feature of Vietnam. In particular, the group focuses on Tay Dang communal house - a communal house located in the Four Northern Towns, the most typical and unique architectural and artistic relic in the Doai region ( Hanoi ).

The exhibition “Once upon a time – The story of the village communal house – Tay Dang Communal House” introduces 36 contemporary works of art in the genres of painting, sculpture, graphics… created on materials such as lacquer, oil, silk, ceramics, wood carving, composites…

Regarding this second exhibition of the H&A group, artist Luong Xuan Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, commented: “The new Vietnamese, the new young generation of the 7X, 8X, 9X do not hide behind but confidently inherit to make a difference the old treasures that our ancestors, grandparents, and parents passed down. Contemporary art seems easy but is difficult when all the massive doors of heritage are still gently open to new eyes and leave open many entrances and exits.”

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society, commented that after the impression from the exhibition "Once upon a time - National Treasures", the project "Vietnam's Cultural Heritage through the perspective of contemporary artists" continues to bring "The story of the communal house - Tay Dang Communal House", opening a journey of discovery and creativity lasting many years, towards typical communal house architectural works across the country. The project also carries within it the aspiration to spread the love of heritage to the community, especially the young people - those who will follow in the footsteps to preserve and enrich the national identity.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son expressed his belief that with the passion and talent of the artists, and the support of the community, the project will not only stop at the exhibition, but will become a long-term journey, contributing to "lighting up heritage in contemporary art", so that Vietnamese heritage continues to resonate, shine and live forever in everyone's heart.
