In 2023, the whole country recorded 20 deaths due to COVID-19

According to information from the Ministry of Health , the work of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic is still closely monitoring the epidemic situation, regularly assessing and analyzing the situation and risk factors; and developing documents to respond to monitoring and preventing the COVID-19 epidemic in the new situation.

From the beginning of the year to December 31, 2023, the whole country recorded 99,479 cases and 20 deaths due to COVID-19. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the whole country has recorded 11,624,694 cases and 43,206 deaths.

In 2023, the number of deaths from the COVID-19 epidemic will decrease sharply (TL photo).

From October 20, 2023, COVID-19 will be adjusted from group A infectious disease to group B5. On October 29, 2023, the Ministry of Health issued the Plan for Sustainable Control and Management of COVID-19 epidemic for the period 2023-2025.

Also according to the Ministry of Health, by December 31, 2023, there were 170,184 cases of dengue fever, down 53.9% over the same period in 2022; 42 deaths, down 72.2% over the same period in 2022.

Hand, foot and mouth disease also recorded 180,983 cases, 2.7 times higher than the same period in 2022, 31 deaths (10.3 times higher than the same period in 2022).

Rabies recorded 82 deaths, an increase of 12 cases compared to the same period in 2022. Rash fever suspected of measles recorded 393 cases, an increase of 35 cases compared to the same period in 2022.

Diphtheria recorded 55 cases, 5 deaths. Monkeypox recorded 121 cases, 6 deaths. Malaria recorded 1 death. Viral encephalitis recorded 8 deaths.

The Ministry of Health has submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the National Strategy on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms until 2030 (Decision No. 568/QD-TTg dated May 24, 2023); submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the Project on Communication on Prevention and Control of Alcohol Harms until 2030;

Develop the Law on Disease Prevention Project; promote the implementation of the Vietnam Health Program, the National Strategy for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention, the National Nutrition Strategy for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2045.

Strengthen communication, raise awareness of people and the community about prevention, improve health, focus on nutrition, protection and physical training.
