After the meeting, Li said both sides pledged to make good use of a number of dialogue mechanisms to address economic and trade concerns and provide a "fair, open and non-discriminatory" business environment for companies. In addition, China will leverage its respective strengths to expand cooperation in energy, mining, new-energy vehicles, green development and the digital economy.

Mr. Li also said that the two countries will expand cooperation in the fields of energy and mining, and China will include Australia in the visa exemption program. Under the new agreement, Australians will not need a visa when entering China if they stay for less than 15 days. In addition, Mr. Li also pledged to send a pair of pandas to Adelaide Zoo (Australia) to act as a bridge of friendship between the people of the two countries.

For his part, Prime Minister Albanese praised the bilateral relationship as being back on track after his talks with Mr. Lee. "The Australia-China relationship is renewed and revitalized. Today, we have agreed on a series of cooperation memoranda and agreements that will continue to promote practical cooperation between our two countries, as our relationship continues to stabilize," said Mr. Albanese.

He affirmed that the Australian and Chinese economies are complementary, and the two countries have common interests in dealing with climate change. Trade between Australia and China will reach $216 billion by 2023 when trade barriers from Beijing are loosened, according to Reuters.

In addition to the economy, according to a joint statement after the meeting, China and Australia agreed to launch a bilateral dialogue mechanism on maritime issues and continue talks between the two countries ' defense ministries to avoid incidents.
