Can Tho University established DNC International Medical Faculty

On June 24, Nam Can Tho University held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the DNC International Medical Faculty. This will be the place to receive and train international students to study health programs that have been licensed to train at the school. Typically, students from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal; in addition, there are also students from the Middle East and many other countries.

Mr. Mahesh Chand Giri, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the need for well-trained, flexible and competent medical professionals is extremely important.

At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, Principal of Nam Can Tho University, said that the school currently trains 42 regular undergraduate majors, 6 master's majors and 1 doctoral major. In particular, the school is officially named in the list of medical universities that meet the criteria voted by the US website WDOMS (World Directory of Medical Schools). This is a premise for the school's medical students to have the opportunity to be allowed to take the US residency exam.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang added that the establishment of DNC International Medical Faculty is the next step in the process of innovation, improvement and expansion of international cooperation, applied scientific research for both lecturers and students. Previously, the school officially signed a cooperation agreement with VMED Organization (India) on consulting services for studying abroad and receiving and training international students. The first batch had about 150 international students studying at the school, the scale will be increased in the following years.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mahesh Chand Giri, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the global healthcare sector is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. These include rapid advancements in medical technology and the complexity of the healthcare system. The need for well-trained, flexible and competent medical professionals will be extremely important. Both India and Vietnam will have practical benefits through cooperation in the healthcare sector. This cooperation will equip both sides not only with professional skills but also with ethical and cultural awareness to thrive in the global healthcare environment.

At the ceremony, the Board of Directors of Nam Can Tho University announced the decision to appoint Associate Professor, Doctor Phillip Tran (Tran Van Phuc) to concurrently hold the position of Dean of DNC International Medicine Faculty; decided to establish the International Medical Science Council and launched the DNC international medical textbook in English.
