Many parents of students at AISVN International School are still wondering about the school's restructuring plan.
In response to the fact that 28 parents of students at AISVN International School agreed to pay support money to maintain their students' studies but were concerned about whether the school would restructure and have a transparent revenue and expenditure monitoring agency, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training organized a working group to monitor the school, dialogue, and answer questions.
Parents still have many questions
The meeting took place on the afternoon of April 5, chaired by Ms. Le Thuy My Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, along with leaders of the Department of Management of Non-Public Educational Institutions, Inspectors of the Department of Education and Training, representatives of the School Council of AISVN International School, and representatives of parents.
TTB's parent said: "When I signed the contract, I sent all my wishes to the school so that my child could study in a good environment. I don't know what will happen to my child by the end of June 2024. The school should come up with a solution so that all parents know."
As for NAT parents, we request that the school come up with a specific restructuring plan within the next 2 weeks or 1 month. Only then will parents have confidence in contributing to maintain the school's operations.
Also during the meeting, Ms. TPA, the parent representative who supervises the school's activities, said that it is only possible to call for financial support for each grade, but each parent has a different reason, and the school has no clear action. "My main responsibility is to monitor the cash flow, not to call for contributions. The school has lost the trust of parents because it has not provided a long-term direction for its activities," Ms. PA commented.
This parent added: "I feel that it is very difficult to call for donations from parents. Parents cannot pay because they do not see clearly the direction of the school's operations. Has the school made a backup plan? I request that the school present the plan of the IB (International Baccalaureate) program and backup plans to all parents."

Will AISVN International School issue shares to parents?
Mr. Ho Quang Trung, a member of the Board of Directors of AISVN International School, said that the school's financial situation is facing many difficulties, and the school has proposed many options to invite investors to cooperate in order to maintain operations. The school has committed to the amount of support for the amount that parents have paid and is planning to issue shares to parents.
According to Mr. Trung, the school will find financial resources for long-term operation and will have an official announcement to all parents.
Participating in this working session, Ms. Chandra McGowan, Principal of AISVN International School, informed that there are currently 2-3 teachers refusing to return to school until they receive their full salary for March 2024. For classes lacking teachers, the school will transfer students to the library and allow them to study on their own under the supervision of the librarian (only math is allowed).
Prime Minister: Do not let American International School students interrupt their studies
There are 5 teachers who have stopped working, the school will review the teaching staff after the March 2024 salary payment period. There are about 15 teachers who have left for various reasons. If the school fully pays the maintenance fee, the program will still be implemented.
Talking to parents at the meeting, Ms. Le Thuy My Chau, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said that recently the city has come up with many plans and chosen a solution that is trustworthy and desired by parents for their children to continue studying here. Through the number of parents accompanying the school, the Department of Education and Training is monitoring the activities of AISVN International School and the company to ensure the rights of students, teachers and staff. I hope that parents will inform other parents about the content of the discussion with the school so that everyone can know and monitor. Everything currently needs to be made public so that parents can understand, the professional department continues to grasp and monitor, record to promptly report and propose solutions.
The leaders of the Department of Education and Training emphasized that they have asked investors to have a specific plan for restructuring soon, before May 15. The role of the Department of Education and Training is only to supervise, the important thing is that the personnel must be paid to the right people, announced, and parents' opinions must be sought. The expenses for March and April must be based on actual data, economical, and truly essential.
"The Department of Education and Training's wish is to ensure that students can study. From the perspective of state management agencies, we will accompany, supervise, and guide schools to ensure students' learning. We suggest that schools have a weekly, specific, and detailed roadmap so that parents can be unanimous and join hands during the current period. The school must take actions to encourage and reassure this group of workers. In the coming time, we hope that parents will continue to contribute their opinions so that together with the Department of Education and Training, agencies, and sectors, we can accompany and support the school to overcome the current difficult period," said Ms. My Chau.
