From February 26, Can Tho residents submit applications to change driving licenses at a new location.

On February 25, the Can Tho Department of Transport announced that it would move the location for receiving documents and returning administrative procedure results from the Department's headquarters to the Can Tho City Public Administration Service Center (at No. 109, Nguyen Trai Street, Tan An Ward, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City).

In addition to the Department of Transport, all administrative procedures related to other departments and branches are transferred to the Public Administration Service Center for receiving and returning results, starting from February 26.

Can Tho Department of Transport coordinates with the City Post Office to issue and renew driving licenses for people at mobile points.

In preparation for receiving and returning administrative procedure results on February 26, the Department of Transport has arranged personnel and equipment at the Public Administration Service Center to be ready to serve the people.

According to the Department of Transport, in the last two months of 2023 and the first month of 2024, the Department received 2-3 times more administrative files than usual. Of which, the most were files for changing driving licenses of all classes.

During these three months, Can Tho City Post Office coordinated to issue and renew 6,236 motorcycle driving license records in 9 districts of the city.

Meanwhile, every day the one-stop department of the Department of Transport receives over 200 driver's license renewal applications.

Can Tho City Public Administration Service Center officially came into operation from February 26.

"At the end and beginning of the year, people who work far away come back and take advantage of the time to change their driving licenses. There are also cases of lost driving licenses.

Or more notably, in cases of traffic safety violations, the driver's license is temporarily confiscated by the traffic police, and they declare it lost to get a new one," the leader of the Department of Transport added.

In cases where the driver's license is temporarily confiscated by the authorities but is declared lost in order to be issued a new driver's license, the Department's leaders recommend that people should not do so because it violates regulations.

Because when people violate and have their driving licenses temporarily suspended, the Department will receive this information and know each case clearly.

According to regulations, people whose driving licenses are temporarily confiscated but declare to have them reissued will not be granted a driving license for 5 years from the date the violation is discovered.

The Department of Transport's leaders recommend that people only do it when they have a real need to issue or exchange driving licenses of all classes.

For people in remote districts such as Thot Not, Vinh Thanh, Co Do... The Department has coordinated with Can Tho City Post Office to provide services to people at post offices or mobile points in the locality.

Can Tho City Public Administration Service Center was established by the City People's Committee in March 2023, as a special administrative unit under the City People's Committee Office.

This is the focal point for receiving, guiding, providing information, and providing services in resolving and returning results of city-level administrative procedures.
