Nguyen Trung Truc Communal House Festival - Rach Gia, also known as the traditional festival commemorating the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc, takes place from the 26th to the 28th of the 8th lunar month every year to honor the merits, talent and virtues of the national hero, to educate the younger generation about the tradition of patriotism and the spirit of indomitability in fighting against foreign invaders and protecting the country.

This year, the festival is held for 3 days from October 17 to 19. Traditional ceremonies are held according to annual traditional rituals at Nguyen Trung Truc communal house. The festival also has many cultural activities, OCOP product displays, tourism promotion and art performances... to create a vibrant atmosphere, spreading local cultural values to a large number of people and tourists.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Diep Mai said: “The unique point of the festival is the community cohesion expressed through the spirit of self-awareness and volunteerism of the participating people, contributing to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values associated with socio-economic development; promoting the role of the people in the festival activities; propagating national sovereignty , protecting the country's borders, seas and islands”.

The festival is known as a unique cultural and religious feature in the Mekong Delta. Every year, during the festival, millions of people from all over the country come to the temple to offer incense to Mr. Nguyen to express their gratitude and pray for good luck and prosperity for their families.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Nam, resident of Hong Ngu ward (Dong Thap) said: “Every year, my family and I attend the Nguyen festival. The festival atmosphere is bustling and joyful, attracting many visitors from all over the country. In particular, when coming to the festival, people are treated to vegetarian dishes and free drinks. This is an extremely meaningful volunteer work that demonstrates the spirit of mutual love and solidarity, connecting people.”

According to Ms. Nguyen Diep Mai, to further promote the value of the festival in the new context, the culture and sports sector continues to synchronously deploy many solutions to preserve, maintain and promote the cultural values of the traditional festival of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc's sacrifice, associated with developing culture, tourism and educating the tradition of patriotism for the young generation.
