Youth of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper: Promoting expertise, taking the lead for the community

On September 6, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper (SGGP) held the 12th Congress of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union members of SGGP Newspaper, term 2025-2030.

In the 2025-2030 term, the SGGP Newspaper's Youth Union sets out 4 main tasks and 12 specific targets. Of which, 100% of the Youth Union branches organize or participate in at least 2 volunteer activities per year. 100% of the Youth Union members and youth participate in at least 2 volunteer activities, 1 social practice skills course and practice 1 sport .

Along with that, union members and youth propose at least 5 solutions and initiatives in performing professional tasks; 100% of union officials are trained in skills and professional work of the union every year; organize at least 4 skill classes on a number of contents that agencies and union members and youth are interested in; mobilize at least 500 million VND from social resources to organize charity activities and social care.

Speaking at the congress, comrade Nguyen Thanh Loi, Party Secretary, Permanent Deputy Editor-in-Chief of SGGP Newspaper, acknowledged and highly appreciated the performance of the SGGP Newspaper's Youth Union during the past term, with many practical programs, successfully completing the set targets.

He suggested that in the new term, the Youth Union should promote the pioneering and creative role of the youth, pioneering in digital transformation, multimedia communication, creating attractive content products, meeting the increasing demands of readers. This is identified as a key task, an inevitable trend that union members need to strongly participate in.

He also emphasized the task of building a strong Youth Union organization, focusing on discovering and nurturing outstanding members to introduce them to the Party, ensuring both quantity and quality, and selecting outstanding factors.

“The Youth Union of SGGP Newspaper needs to continue promoting the spirit of volunteering for the community, maintaining social security activities, sharing with people in difficulty, making the Union's activities more practical and meaningful,” emphasized comrade Nguyen Thanh Loi.

In recognition of the contributions of the SGGP Newspaper Delegation, term XI, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Delegation awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements.

3 groups include: Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper's Youth Union, Content Youth Union, and Executive Youth Union. 4 individuals include: Ma Thi Ngoc Chi, Tran Tuan Hoa, Nguyen Duy Tam, and Vu Hong Van.

Comrade Bui Huu Hong Hai, Secretary of the City Party Youth Union and Comrade Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Youth Union awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals.

At the congress, comrade Nguyen Tuong Han, Secretary of the SGGP Newspaper's editorial board, highly appreciated the contents and projects proposed by the Executive Committee of the grassroots Youth Union, including the program "Warm House for Children". With a large scale, the program requires both human and material resources. He suggested that the grassroots Youth Union study and advise the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party agencies to upgrade it to a Party Committee-level program, thereby mobilizing larger resources, promoting value and efficiency at a higher level.

From a professional perspective, comrade Nguyen Tuong Han suggested that the Grassroots Youth Union should make multimedia operations one of the specific targets, strive to set goals for the Content Union members to implement, in order to serve more practically the professional tasks of the newspaper.

Comrade Bui Huu Hong Hai, member of the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Party agencies of Ho Chi Minh City, acknowledged the ideological education activities that the SGGP Newspaper's Youth Union has implemented in recent times, with many creative forms such as: Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space at the headquarters, seminars, professional forums, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

He suggested that in the new term, the Youth Union should continue to focus on improving the quality of political, ideological, ethical and lifestyle education for union members; effectively promote movements such as "One good news every day, one beautiful story every week"; and at the same time encourage young writers to build a team of reporters and editors with courage, steadfast ideology, imbued with humanity and social responsibility.

SGGP Newspaper Delegation organized an activity with the theme "Forever the revolutionary ideal of youth" at Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space of SGGP Newspaper, introducing books about President Ho Chi Minh and Hero Ly Tu Trong.

In addition, the Grassroots Youth Union needs to promote the spirit of vanguard, bravery, and creativity, affirming the pioneering role of youth in digital transformation of journalism and propaganda methods; at the same time, building an increasingly strong and united Youth Union organization, which is an environment for training and growth for each member.
