In the warm atmosphere of the reunion festival, the children participated in many exciting activities such as quizzes with prizes, folk games and especially the colorful lantern procession. The laughter, cheers, and sparkling lights of hundreds of lanterns brought the children a night full of joy.
At the program, the Organizing Committee prepared 1,000 meals for children and 1,000 essential gifts for them. Each gift was wrapped with affection such as moon cakes, lanterns, milk, candy, seaweed snacks, nutritious porridge, soy sauce, jelly... These are small gifts but have great meaning of encouragement, helping the children feel more clearly the warm atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Mr. Nguyen Han Dung, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade Youth Union, said: “Mid-Autumn Festival is an occasion for union members to share with the community, especially to join hands to care for disadvantaged students in remote areas. This year, the unit chose Can Gio commune to bring a beautiful childhood memory, adding joy and motivation for students to confidently step into the new school year. This is also an opportunity for union members and young people to demonstrate their responsibility to the community and society.”
According to Mr. Nguyen Han Dung, representative of the Organizing Committee, the program is part of a series of activities of the Youth Union in 2025 with the theme "Youth of Ho Chi Minh City, proud, firmly following the Party", welcoming the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee (term 2025 - 2030) and the 1st Congress of Youth Union members of the Department of Industry and Trade (term 2025 - 2030).
This is also the third consecutive year that the Youth Union of the Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with local authorities and sponsors to organize the Mid-Autumn Festival for children in Can Gio district. “Over the years, the scale of the program has been expanded, bringing more joy and sharing to children, especially those in disadvantaged circumstances,” Mr. Dung emphasized.
According to Mr. Tran Tien Dat, Secretary of the Youth Union and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Gio commune, the whole commune currently has about 3,600 children. Of which, 1,000 gifts from the program are for children in difficult circumstances and orphans, helping them have a warmer and more complete Mid-Autumn Festival.
In particular, the organizing committee also awarded 20 scholarships (10 for primary school students, 10 for secondary school students) to encourage the spirit of learning and motivate students with difficult circumstances but who strive to excel in their studies.
Not only stopping at Can Gio commune, on the same day, the Youth Union of the Department of Industry and Trade also coordinated with the Fatherland Front Committee of An Thoi Dong commune to organize the program "Full Moon Festival Night" for 300 children in this commune. The children also had fun, received gifts and immersed themselves in the bustling atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
A representative of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City said that with many practical and meaningful activities, the units hope to bring a meaningful "Full Moon Festival Night" to the children to continue spreading the spirit of community cohesion, affirming the social responsibility of Ho Chi Minh City's youth in accompanying the young generations.
