Many combinations are built from subjects in the new program.

According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, June 15 is the deadline for universities to announce university enrollment information for 2025. Compared to the previous plan, the official enrollment methods of the schools have some adjustments or additions.

Master Vo Ngoc Nhon, Deputy Director of the Admissions Consulting Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the school has 4 admission methods based on high school graduation exam scores, Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam scores and 2 methods based on high school academic scores. This year, the school has admission combinations built from new subjects in the 2018 General Education Program such as: information technology, educational economics and law.

Master Vuong Van Khoi, Deputy Director of the Consulting and Admissions Center of the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City, also said that compared to 2024, the school has 1 more admission method. Specifically, the 5 admission methods this year include: based on the high school graduation exam, the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment test scores, the V-SAT exam scores and 2 methods based on high school academic scores. In 2025, the school will use subject combinations divided into 2 groups, in which the main subjects of the combinations are literature and English.

Similarly, Master Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, informed that the school has not made many adjustments compared to the announced admission methods. The four methods used include: reviewing transcripts; reviewing high school graduation exam scores; competency assessment exams of Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi National University, V-SAT exam; direct admission and priority admission. "For health training majors in particular, candidates should pay attention to the entrance threshold according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training's admission regulations," Master Tri added.

Candidate data reception stage

Noting the steps for candidates to be admitted during this period, Master Vo Ngoc Nhon said that this year, universities will no longer conduct early admissions but will instead register for general admissions on the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admissions System. Currently, universities are in the process of receiving data, evidence of admissions or scholarship applications from candidates. For example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology is currently accepting scholarship applications; if candidates meet the criteria set by the school, they will receive a 25% reduction in tuition fees for the entire course after being admitted. Similarly, Nguyen Tat Thanh University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance are also opening portals to receive admission data from candidates using methods other than high school graduation exam scores.

Master Vuong Van Khoi said: "This data will be a basis for the school to consider scholarships upon admission. In addition, on this basis, the school will have more in-depth advice on the desired major. However, candidates need to note that they must register their admission wishes on the General Admission System of the Ministry of Education and Training within the prescribed time. Only then will the scholarships they receive be valid." Similarly, Master Truong Quang Tri emphasized: "No matter which university they apply to, from July 16 to 28, candidates need to note that they must officially register their wishes on the General Admission System of the Ministry of Education and Training. Candidates must do this to have the opportunity to be considered for admission and officially enroll at a university."

How to choose an admission combination with many advantages

This year, an important new point in the school's admission information is the subject combination. Master Vo Ngoc Nhon said: "The subject combination reflects the school's admission perspective and what kind of PhD it wants to recruit. For example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology trains in an applied-oriented manner and focuses on practice. The school calculates the admission combination to ensure that students have good logical thinking ability, language skills, and foreign languages ​​are also important factors. Therefore, the school's admission combination for all majors includes math, literature, and English (except for some specific majors).

"This year, candidates will take the high school graduation exam with 4 subjects, of which 2 are compulsory subjects: math and literature. In the remaining 2 elective subjects, candidates can choose the subject to have the most advantageous combination. However, candidates should note that currently, universities still consider admission by not using the scores of subjects according to the combination, for example, the scores of the competency assessment exam," Master Nhon emphasized.

Regarding the admission combination, Master Vuong Van Khoi said that this year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance uses 11 subject combinations revolving around the main subjects of literature or mathematics. Of which, literature is a subject present in all combinations. "Increasing the number of subject combinations helps candidates have more choices in admission. In addition, the school also uses high school study results for admission, with this method, candidates can choose the subject with the best results for admission", Master Khoi noted.

Meanwhile, Master Truong Quang Tri said that Nguyen Tat Thanh University uses combinations built from subjects of the 2018 General Education program. Of which, math-literature-English is the main combination in admission to many majors. In the traditional combinations, the school continues to use combination C00 (literature-history-geography) in admission to many majors. In addition, the school also optimizes the combination of admission subjects to help candidates choose the most suitable major, especially in the admission method based on 12th grade transcript scores. "Candidates do not need to worry, just need to identify their strong subjects to be able to apply for the most desired major," Master Tri added.

Admission requirements for international joint programs

Master Le Vo Binh Minh, Admissions Director of Gloucestershire Vietnam, said that the condition for participating in the program is to graduate from high school. Students study for 4 years, after completing the first 2 years, students can choose to continue studying in Vietnam or transfer to the UK. Whether studying entirely in Vietnam or transferring to the UK, the value of the degree remains the same.

International joint programs in general and the Gloucestershire Vietnam program in particular have their strengths. The first strength is foreign languages. Using foreign languages ​​in studying, international semesters, and interacting with multinational businesses helps students have better opportunities to practice these skills.
