Thailand national team quickly naturalized young Swedish star after losing to Vietnam

The Thai team is about to have the service of Swedish midfielder Eric Kahl after the defeat against Vietnam.

On the evening of January 2, the Thai team lost 1-2 to Vietnam in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final. Naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son was the owner of both goals that defeated the "war elephants". Not staying out of the "wave of naturalization" of players from Southeast Asian teams, the Thai team quickly approached young star Eric Kahl. Eric Kahl plays in the left-back position, has a Swedish father and a Thai mother. The young star, born in 2001, once played for the Swedish U18 team in 2020. Currently, he is playing for the AGF Club in the Danish National Championship. Kahl has made 20 appearances this season. While the tournament is on winter break, the 1m80 tall center-back returned to Thailand to rest. Taking that opportunity, Madam Pang convinced him to play for the "war elephants".

Eric Kahl seems to be completely convinced by the direction of the president of the Football Association of Thailand. It is likely that this central defender will only debut for the Thai national team in March 2025 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifying campaign. The 23-year-old central defender is valued at 1.8 million euros by Transfermarkt. If Eric Kahl is available, the strength of the Thai defense will be greatly increased. On January 5, the Thai national team will fight Vietnam in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final.
Kahl began his football career at the age of 4 when he joined the AIK youth academy in his hometown. Since then, he has progressed from the youth team to the first team and signed his first professional contract in October 2019. Then in July 2021, he decided to join AGF in the Danish Superliga with a 5-year contract.
