Vietnam team will compete again in March 2025.

According to the plan of VFF and coach Kim Sang-sik, the Vietnamese team will have a friendly match in March in Binh Duong . The match is part of the international match series (FIFA Days) to practice and prepare the Vietnamese team for the match against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

In 2025, the most important task for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team is the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The Vietnamese team is in the same group with Nepal, Laos and Malaysia. The first match will take place on March 25.

The 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers will consist of six matches played over six FIFA Days. Only the group winners will qualify for the finals. Malaysia, which is expected to field many naturalised players, is considered Vietnam's main rival.

The Vietnamese team started 2025 with two memorable final matches at the AFF Cup 2024. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his students defeated Thailand in both matches with scores of 2-1 and 3-2 to win the Southeast Asian championship.
