U.17 Thailand won a thrilling victory over Laos in the opening match of the Asian tournament.

On the first day of the 2023 AFC U-17 Championship, host U-17 Thailand faced U-17 Laos at Pathum Thani Stadium. The team from the land of the golden pagodas struggled to win all 3 points in the opening match against an opponent that was considered inferior.

Thus, U.17 Yemen took the top spot in Group A with 3 points and a goal difference of +4. Meanwhile, host U.17 Thailand ranked second in the group, with 3 points but was inferior to U.17 Yemen in terms of goal difference (+1).
