U23 Vietnam departs for UAE for training

During the training period in the UAE, the Vietnam U23 team will play two international friendly matches with Qatar U23, taking place on October 9 and 13.

According to Acting Coach Dinh Hong Vinh, this is a valuable opportunity for the team to test and evaluate its strength: “Meeting high-level opponents like U23 Qatar is very useful.

These two matches will help the coaching staff better assess potential, adaptability and identify more quality players to report to head coach Kim Sang Sik, thereby preparing well for the next training sessions."

VHO - Defeating U23 Indonesia 1-0 right at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on the evening of July 29, U23 Vietnam not only successfully defended the title but also set a series of impressive milestones in the history of Southeast Asian youth football.

Regarding the squad, the team has two changes compared to the original list due to injuries. Midfielder Dinh Xuan Tien suffered a thigh muscle overload, while striker Nguyen Ngoc My suffered a right adductor muscle injury.

Both were forced to stay in the country for treatment and recovery. The coaching staff summoned Le Dinh Long Vu (SLNA Club) and Nguyen Le Phat ( Ninh Binh Club) to replace them.

Head coach Dinh Hong Vinh added: “U23 Vietnam is still on track towards the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship. In the immediate future, the team will have different training periods to test and perfect its squad.

For this October training session, head coach Kim Sang Sik discussed very specifically about technical skills. The team needs to focus on passing ability, maintaining reasonable team distance and creating space behind the defense line.

The training trip in the UAE is an important step in the comprehensive preparation plan that VFF has built for U23 Vietnam, to help the young squad continue to develop, accumulate international experience and aim for new achievements.

This is part of the team's careful preparation plan towards two key goals: SEA Games 33 taking place next December and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
