Thuan An Ward ( Hue City) - a locality with many households living along the coast, is also a place where many fishing boats gather. To respond to storm No. 10, the People's Committee of Thuan An Ward coordinated with functional forces and Border Guards stationed in the area to deploy many plans to ensure safety for people.

Specifically, on September 26-27, Thuan An ward evacuated 715 people to safe places, called on 510 vessels and boats, with 673 workers to take shelter ashore. At the same time, the local government also ensured the 4-on-the-spot motto, guided and supported people to reinforce their houses, protect their property; organized inspections of fishing boats, and propagated and mobilized people to go ashore.

The representative of the People's Committee of Thuan An Ward, Hue City said that the local government is currently mobilizing all forces to review and inspect households in vulnerable areas, to organize evacuation to safe places. In addition, the locality also coordinates with the Border Guard stationed in the area to visit each household to inform people about the situation of storm No. 10, calling on people to ensure their lives.

Major Nguyen Duc Phu, Head of Thuan An Port Border Guard Station, Hue City Border Guard Command, said that, implementing the Hue City People's Committee's telegram on storm prevention No. 10, the Border Guard Station has made plans to be on duty and support people in vulnerable areas, coastal areas to reinforce their houses and evacuate to safe places. Officers and soldiers are assigned to be present at the fishing port to guide fishing boats to anchor in order, ensure safety and avoid property damage to people. In addition, the unit also coordinates with local authorities to be on duty 24/7 to promptly mobilize forces and vehicles to respond when incidents occur.

With the support of the authorities to reinforce his house, Mr. Ngo Dinh Xuan, a resident of Thuan An ward, Hue city, emotionally said: "I live here alone, my health is very weak, my legs hurt so I cannot reinforce my house, ensuring safety against storm No. 10. Luckily, the local authorities, together with the Border Guard force, supported me to reinforce my house, ensuring my property."

Localities in Hue city have prepared plans to evacuate over 10,000 households with over 32,000 people to safe places; concentrated in coastal areas and lagoons. Up to now, all over 1,100 fishing boats with over 8,000 workers of Hue city have returned to safe shelters. The city currently has about 5,600 hectares of aquaculture that have not been fully harvested. Units have prepared reservoir operation scenarios for forecasted rainfall levels of 100 - 200 mm, some places over 300 mm, to proactively operate inter-reservoirs safely when heavy rain occurs.
