"Nurturing" children from statistical skills education

Vinschool's unique educational program is designed to integrate basic statistical concepts into the Math program, thereby building a foundation for children from kindergarten. Although related to statistics, the lessons are not dry and difficult for preschoolers to absorb. On the contrary, this is a program that has been specifically designed to be attractive and easy to access.

Specifically, during class, students played the role of “little statisticians”, under the guidance of the teacher, the whole class together found out “which fruit is most loved by classmates”. This activity not only helps students understand how to collect and analyze data but also creates conditions for developing communication skills, teamwork and critical thinking.

To make it easier for young Vinsers to understand, the teacher introduced the concept of survey in the mathematical sense - one of the activities of statistics.

The task for each student is to ask at least 3 friends about their favorite fruit and record their answers in a survey. Through this, children learn that each person has different preferences, and thus understand and respect differences.

During class, teachers are always with the children and provide timely guidance or support when needed. This activity not only builds Math skills but also helps young Vinser develop a range of cognitive and communication skills, thereby encouraging an active learning approach, stimulating curiosity that students can apply to different fields.

Students discuss what the graph shows about their favorite fruit as a class, helping to develop interpretation skills, encouraging students to draw meaning from the data.

After completing the survey, students counted the number of people who liked each fruit on their group ballots, and represented the voting data by ranking the fruit that corresponded to their choices on a chart.

The class will then discuss what the chart shows: “Which fruit is most liked?; Which fruit is least liked?” using a 2-step process:

One, Count and Compare: Compiling the results and comparing which fruit received more votes helps improve basic Math skills and the ability to compare quantities.
Second, Discussing your findings and explaining your group's chart to your friends or teacher helps improve your verbal and written communication skills. Children learn to clearly present their thought process and findings.

In just one hour of class, Vinsers not only understand how to organize and represent data but also perceive the meaning and message that data brings. At the same time, it helps students better understand the interests of the group, from which they can make decisions or opinions on a specific issue.

Through activities related to statistics, students develop an understanding of numbers, patterns and relationships. This nurtures mathematical reasoning, helping them see mathematics as a tool to understand the world around them. This is also the luggage for Vinser to confidently enter the journey of grade 1.

Vinschool's Preschool program is built according to the British Preschool program framework, ensuring balanced development for children, focusing on developing thinking ability, stimulating curiosity, multidimensional thinking and creativity, ensuring connection with the General Education Program, equipping children with the necessary preparation for grade 1.
In Kindergarten (5 years old), children begin to enter the General Program according to the Cambridge General Program system with English, Math and Science components, taught directly in English by international teachers.
