"At first, people used to display persimmon branches for the Mid-Autumn Festival in the 8th lunar month, but gradually it became a seasonal affair. Lychee branches have been sought after by players since the Doan Ngo festival until now. Right in the lychee season, people buy lychee branches to display, which are both beautiful and edible," said Ms. Thao.

Flower lovers in Ho Chi Minh City who want to plant lychee branches must wait for the goods to be imported from the northern provinces. All types of fruit branches must be transported by plane, so the price is quite high. In Ho Chi Minh City, the price to the player ranges from 250,000 to 850,000 VND, depending on the size of the bunch, or a large branch. In addition to lychee, green apricot branches or mini watermelons imported from China are also popular.

In big cities like Ho Chi Minh City, because not everyone has a large plot of land to grow fruit trees, many people still like to have branches with fruit in the house. Many types of fruit can be both seen and eaten, so it is very interesting, especially evoking childhood memories of many people born in rural areas.

Ms. Yen Thao noted that the first thing to do when wanting to display fruit branches is to invest in a suitable vase. For large and heavy branches, you need to have a vase that is heavy and tall enough to create a sturdy trunk. Most fruit branches are woody so you don’t need to change the water every day like herbaceous flowers, and the display time can last for a whole week.

Unlike flowers, most fruit branches will quickly lose their leaves. Initially, when first placed, there will be many leaves on the branch, but after a few days, they will all fall off. However, this is not a disadvantage, because the fruits on the branch will remain fresh for a long time, and when the branch is left with only a few fruits, it will create a very rustic and special beauty.
