The pumping station of the North Song Ma Irrigation Company Limited operates to drain floodwaters from the fields.
According to the forecast, due to the impact of storm No. 3 and its circulation, from July 22 to July 23, the Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 100mm to 200mm, and locally over 300mm. Therefore, irrigation works exploitation companies have implemented plans to ensure the safety of the works under their management and proactively pumped water to drain water to protect agricultural production in flooded areas.
There are currently 34 pumping stations managed by irrigation companies operating 151 water pumps to drain floodwaters from rice fields. Of these, the North Song Ma Irrigation Company Limited has 20 stations; the Song Chu Irrigation Company Limited has 12 stations and the South Song Ma Irrigation Company Limited has 2 stations.
To promptly respond to the complex weather developments, the province's irrigation works operators have deployed plans to respond to natural disasters, buffer water drainage, and proactively implemented solutions to protect works, especially reservoirs, dams, sluices, and short dams on drainage channels. At the same time, staff are assigned to be on duty 24/7 at key works, ready to respond when situations arise.
