Returning to the homeland on National Death Anniversary

“No matter where you go/Remember the anniversary of the ancestors on the 10th of March”... Hung Temple Festival, also known as Hung Kings' Anniversary, is a festival to commemorate and express gratitude for the Hung Kings' contributions to the country's founding. The festival takes place on the 10th of the 3rd lunar month (April 7, 2025). Hung Temple Festival consists of 2 parts: the ceremony and the festival.

The ceremony was held solemnly and had the character of a national holiday. The offerings included "three animals" (1 pig, 1 goat and 1 cow), Chung cake, Day cake and colorful sticky rice...

After the ceremony comes the festival. Every year at the Hung Temple festival, there is a palanquin competition held by the surrounding villages. The palanquin that wins first prize this year will represent the remaining palanquins in the next festival and be carried to the Upper Temple to celebrate the national ceremony. Therefore, the palanquin that wins first prize is the pride of the villagers.

During the Hung Temple festival, there is the custom of singing Xoan and Ca Tru... Around the area at the foot of Hung Mountain, there are very lively performances and folk games such as swing playing, cockfighting, human chess, to tom... Groups of boys and girls in groups of three or five show off their talents in singing Vi, Trong Quan or singing duet love songs... In the evening, there are Cheo and Tuong singing organized in the wide fields right at the entrance of Ha Temple or Gieng Temple...

Hung Temple Festival is a beautiful custom in the tradition of the Vietnamese people. In the folk consciousness, the land of the ancestors has become the "sacred land" of the whole country, the place where the origin of the nation originated. Pilgrims to the land of the ancestors, regardless of age, gender, are proud to be descendants of King Hung.
