Specifically, in the first 6 months of 2025, total global sales of 2-wheel electric motorbikes reached 4.4 million units, up 7.2% over the same period last year. Notably, this growth took place in a context where the market was heavily impacted by support policies.

China continues to be the leading country in electric motorcycle consumption. In the first half of the year, Chinese customers purchased a total of about 3.2 million electric motorcycles, equivalent to 73% of total global electric motorcycle sales.

India has emerged as the world’s second-largest electric motorcycle market thanks to emissions regulations and incentives for electric vehicles. Sales of electric two-wheelers in the world’s most populous country grew 9.1%, with homegrown brand TVS Motor taking the lead, surpassing pure-play electric vehicle makers Ola Electric and Ather.

Along with Vietnam's 3rd position, VinFast also has the fastest growth rate and is in the top 10 largest electric motorbike manufacturers in the world.

The Turkish market ranked fourth with a 37.4% increase in electric motorcycle sales, while the country's gasoline motorcycle market is struggling after a boom in recent years.

MotorCycles Data also shows that there are more than 80 million electric motorcycles in circulation worldwide. Despite the significant growth, the site believes that the global electric motorcycle market still has room for strong growth in the future.
