Vietnam's success from bamboo diplomacy

In 2023, Vietnam will continue to witness many achievements in international relations thanks to its flexible foreign policy, in which the "bamboo diplomacy " school plays an important role.

The image of the "Vietnamese bamboo tree" vividly, but very simply and easily reflects the core and consistent contents of our Party's foreign policy as well as the unique identity of Vietnam's revolutionary diplomacy, which is the solid root, the principle of national and ethnic interests, the independent and autonomous foreign policy, taking real strength as the root, taking multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations and comprehensive and deep international integration to create a position and establish a time... The solid trunk is the method of creating strength, in which the strength of great national unity is the fundamental and vital factor; it is the combination of national strength with the strength of the times; it is raising high the flag of justice, humanity, loyalty, and respect for the law... The flexible branch is the style and art of flexible behavior on the principle of "being unchanging, responding to all changes"; is the way of behaving "know yourself, know others", "know the time, know the situation", "know how to advance, know how to retreat", "change when to stop, know how to change"... The two countries agreed to strengthen security and economic cooperation. In September, Vietnam and the US upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Sustainable Development during the visit of US President Joe Biden to Vietnam. The two countries also announced closer cooperation in semiconductors and essential minerals. Earlier, in July, President Vo Van Thuong visited the Vatican. The two sides approved the Regulations on the operation of the Permanent Representative and the Office of the Permanent Representative of the Holy See in Vietnam. According to Reuters, Vietnam's diplomatic achievements are also marked in the economic field. Vietnam is a member of ASEAN and has signed free trade agreements with the EU, the UK, Chile, South Korea and most recently with Israel.
