According to a VNA reporter in Beijing, on October 14-15, in Jiangcheng District, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province (China), the "Vietnam-China-Laos Joint Emergency Response Exercise on Major Cross-Border Infectious Diseases in 2025" took place.
The exercise was attended by 241 delegates and medical experts from the Ministry of Health and provincial and local health agencies of Vietnam and Laos; the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); and medical response forces at all levels of Yunnan province.
This is the first time Vietnam, China and Laos have jointly organized an emergency drill on cross-border infectious diseases with the scope of the entire process, the entire chain and all elements.
The exercise focuses on testing and training the coordination capacity of emergency response forces, perfecting the regional epidemic response mechanism, and comprehensively improving the capacity to handle cross-border major infectious diseases in the border areas between the three countries.
The exercise simulates the outbreak of a new acute infectious disease in the border area of Vietnam, China and Laos, including the detection and reporting of cases, epidemiological investigation, risk assessment, sampling and testing, disinfection of the scene, and completion of the response.
Experts said that this joint exercise has continued to improve the coordination mechanism for inspection and prevention of infectious diseases in border areas, while also training and improving the core capacities of the medical response forces at the borders of the three countries such as rapid response, remote mobility, and on-site handling.
This is an active experimental step to ensure public health security in border areas and comprehensively improve the capacity to prevent and respond to serious infectious diseases.
In addition to the field exercise, the program also includes a static exhibition and a discussion to exchange experiences, introducing new achievements in building forces, equipment and response capacity of the China Center for Disease Control, the national medical emergency response teams (Yunnan) and the Yunnan Provincial Plague Prevention and Control Rapid Response Team./.
