Viettel tests 5G equipment in the Middle East

Within the framework of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, on the afternoon of March 5, Viettel High Technology Industry Corporation (Viettel High Tech) - a member of the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group announced the testing of 5G equipment with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (Du), the leading network operator in the Middle East.

This event marks a breakthrough in the international expansion strategy of Viettel High Technology Industry Corporation, while affirming Vietnam's technological capacity on the global telecommunications map.

At the event, Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation and its strategic partner High Cloud Technologies (HCT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company to commit to cooperating in deploying, testing and commercializing 5G solutions in the Middle East.

The first phase will focus on testing on Emirates Integrated Telecommunications' advanced network with two categories: 5G OpenRAN public network and 5G Private Network. The deployment of Viettel High Technology Industries Corporation's advanced 5G solutions not only meets the increasing demand for network capacity and high data transmission speed but also lays the foundation for breakthrough applications such as smart cities, virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) experiences and industrial internet of things (IoT).

Mr. Nguyen Vu Ha, General Director of Viettel High Technology Industry Corporation, affirmed: " This cooperation will create a strong 5G ecosystem, meeting international standards and promoting the digital transformation process in the region."

Representative of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company, Mr. Fahad Al Hassawi, General Director emphasized: " This cooperation is an important step towards providing future-ready connectivity solutions. The integration of 5G Private and OpenRAN will help us build a next-generation telecommunications ecosystem, bringing value to businesses, governments and communities."

The partnership between Viettel High-Tech Industries Corporation and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company is in line with the UAE's national digitalization strategy, which prioritizes investment in telecommunications infrastructure to promote economic growth. Successful trials will pave the way for large-scale commercial deployment, making the UAE a world-class telecommunications technology hub.

In addition to 5G testing, Viettel High Tech is actively seeking opportunities to expand its network infrastructure solution portfolio in the Middle East. This is a strategic move to build a comprehensive technology ecosystem, while strengthening Viettel High Tech's position in the global new-generation telecommunications value chain.
