Dirty food information case in schools: Simultaneous inspection of boarding kitchens

After the incident of dirty food being smuggled into Trung Vuong Primary School, the authorities of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat (Lam Dong Province) simultaneously inspected the boarding kitchen and food safety work at all schools in the area.

On September 22, the interdisciplinary inspection team of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat ( Lam Dong ) began a comprehensive inspection of boarding kitchens, food safety and hygiene, and non-budgetary revenues and expenditures of schools under the ward.

This move is aimed at tightening management of the boarding kitchen after the boarding kitchen team and parents of Trung Vuong Primary School accused Ms. Nguyen Thai Quynh Nga, the school's principal, of repeatedly allowing suppliers to bring dirty food into the school.

The inspection team was led by Ms. Phan Thi Xuan Thao, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat; Mr. Nguyen Vinh Hien, Head of the Department of Culture and Society, was the deputy head. In addition, the team also had 8 other members, including the Chief of the Ward Police; Chief of Office of the People's Council - People's Committee; leaders of the Department of Economics , Infrastructure and Urban Areas; medical station...

The inspection period lasts 30 days, starting from September 22. The interdisciplinary team is responsible for reporting the results weekly and summarizing all the content to send to the Chairman of the Ward People's Committee at the end of the inspection period.

Currently, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat is the ward with the largest number of schools in the inner city of Da Lat with 27 schools from kindergarten to high school, including 19 public schools. In addition to 3 high schools and 1 inter-level school under the Department of Education and Training, the remaining schools are managed by the ward.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police and relevant units to quickly verify, clarify the reflection, investigate responsibility and report to the Provincial People's Committee before September 23. At the same time, the working groups will increase surprise inspections of collective kitchens, especially at large-scale schools, to promptly correct violations and ensure food safety.

Regarding the education sector, the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need to strengthen coordination between schools and the Parents' Association to promote the role of supervising boarding kitchens. Teachers and students must also be equipped with basic knowledge to protect themselves from the risk of poisoning and foodborne diseases.

From September 22, parents of Trung Vuong Primary School will pick up their children and take them home for lunch.
