12,000 athletes compete in the VPBank VnExpress Marathon HCMC 2025 night run

(NLDO) - 12,000 domestic and international athletes will conquer this year's race track in the central area of ​​Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning of February 23.

The third edition of VPBank VnExpress Marathon HoChiMinh City Midnight (VVMM) will kick off early in the morning of February 23 with the participation of more than 12,000 athletes, including about 600 international runners.

This is the night race with the largest number of athletes participating ever in Vietnam, marking the cooperation between VPBank and VnExpress Marathon, two prestigious names with a lot of experience in organizing and operating a system of top running races.

VVMM 2025 was held in Ho Chi Minh City on the night of February 22 and early morning of February 23.

As the opening event of the new year of the VnExpress Marathon system, VVMM 2025 aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The race has many innovations when expanding its scale, optimizing the route, bringing runners to explore the space bearing historical marks, mixed with the modern features of the most vibrant city in Vietnam.

Athletes will compete on a route passing famous landmarks such as Tao Dan Park, Notre Dame Cathedral, Bach Dang Wharf..., discovering for themselves the youthfulness and dynamism of District 1 center and Thu Thiem new urban area.

This colorful running track will be an opportunity for athletes to see the "city that never sleeps" with its bustling life day and night through different lenses.

Pham Thi Hong Le is the female champion of the VVMM 2024 race.

This is also an opportunity for the organizers and runners to join hands to promote the image of Ho Chi Minh City at night, brilliant and vibrant, to the domestic and international running community.

The VVMM route has been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) as meeting the competition length standards for all four distances. From there, athletes can use their achievements at the tournament to register for the world's biggest marathons such as Chicago, Tokyo, Boston...

Each runner after completing the race can participate in community work by pasting their running BIB on the "Forest of Prosperity" at the finish area.

Opening ceremony at noon on February 21 at District 1 Sports Center

For each BIB posted, the Organizing Committee will contribute 30,000 VND to the TreeBank Fund (a non-profit program managed and coordinated by the Institute for Development Communication Research), contributing to greening as well as overcoming forest degradation, protecting water resources, regulating climate, preventing natural disasters towards sustainable development goals and socio-economic development in the two localities of Tay Ninh and Thanh Hoa.

This is the second year VPBank has accompanied this race. Since 2018, the bank has organized 14 large-scale races in many provinces and cities with a total of nearly 90,000 athletes participating.
