Mu Cang Chai (Lao Cai) is famous for its majestic terraced fields, which are especially brilliant during the ripe rice season from September to October. With a day's time, visitors can hardly explore the whole land, but can still choose a few typical spots to fully experience the golden color of the Northwest.
Watching the sunrise on Raspberry Hill

Mam Xoi Hill in La Pan Tan is the first place to set foot. In the thin morning mist, the terraced fields arranged in circles like giant raspberries appear impressively. This is considered the "golden symbol" of Mu Cang Chai and is also the most crowded place during the rice season.
If you want to find a quieter space, visitors can visit Mam Xoi Nho not far away. This place not only covers the mountain and forest scenery, but also makes it easy to take check-in photos without jostling. The road is quite bumpy, so you should go with a local to ensure safety.
Explore the dinosaur spine
After leaving La Pan Tan, a must-see is the dinosaur spine. Standing on the top, visitors can see four famous terraced fields at the same time: De Xu Phinh, Che Cu Nha, La Pan Tan and Mo De.

The majestic view of mountains mixed with brilliant yellow is a worthy reward for the morning journey.
Stop at Kim Noi and admire the sunset at Horseshoe Hill
After lunch, spend time at Kim Noi, a village located about 8 km from the town center. The highlight here is the high cliff overlooking the entire valley of terraced fields. The road up has been paved with concrete, making it convenient for motorbikes and small cars to travel, but visitors have to climb about 300 m at the end.

The day ended with the sunset on Horseshoe Hill. The terraced fields curve like a horseshoe, and when the afternoon sunlight turns golden, they create a poetic natural picture. This is also the “golden coordinate” in the lenses of many photographers every rice harvest season.
