5 localities with the highest tuition fees in the country

As of August 12, at least 29 localities nationwide have approved tuition fees for the new school year 2024-2025, ranging from 8 to more than 340 VND/month.

Below is a list of provinces and cities that have announced tuition fees for the 2024-2025 school year (except for primary school, 5-year-old children are exempted according to the Education Law and Decree 81 of 2021):

Most localities divide tuition fees by level of education and three regions, including urban, rural and mountainous areas. Of which, Dak Nong has the lowest tuition fees: preschool level from 8 to 30 VND/month; middle school and high school level from 10 to 45 VND/month.

Bac Giang is temporarily the locality with the highest tuition fee, up to 340,000 VND/month. Next is Binh Thuan, the highest fee is 240,000 VND/month. Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang have the same highest fee of 220,000 VND/month and Kien Giang is slightly lower at about 195,000 VND/month.

Also according to the announcement of the localities of Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Long An, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc are 6 localities that have finalized plans to exempt and reduce tuition fees for the 2024-2025 school year for students of all levels.

In addition to the above provinces, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, from the 2024-2025 school year, 5-year-old preschool children will be exempted from tuition fees (from September 1, 2024). Previously, the supported group was 5-year-old preschool children in extremely disadvantaged villages/hamlets, communes in Region III ethnic minority and mountainous areas, and extremely disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas according to regulations of competent authorities.
