Drinking hot soy milk, ginger tea, honey, and blueberry extract helps improve sleep quality in cold weather.

Many people often have difficulty sleeping or sleeping well when the weather changes erratically. Doctor Tran Thi Tra Phuong, Nutrihome Nutrition Clinic System, said that in addition to sleep hygiene, sleeping on time, keeping the bedroom warm and quiet, avoiding stress, people should ensure the quality of nutrition to have a good night's sleep.

Here are five drinks that help you sleep.

Ginger tea: Ginger is warming, detoxifying, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving. This spice is often used in food preparation or combined into drinks that help keep the body warm during the cold season. Warm ginger tea also prevents bloating and aids the digestive system, prevents colds, and improves respiratory health.

Ginger tea stimulates the nervous system, increases blood circulation and blood flow. Avoid drinking ginger tea in the evening close to bedtime because it stimulates rapid heartbeat, excitement, and can cause difficulty sleeping; should be drunk after meals.

Honey : Helps reduce flu symptoms and respiratory infections. For people with colds, coughs, and sore throats, drinking honey with warm water helps warm the throat and soothe the pain, making it easier to sleep. Drinking honey water (mixed with warm water) in the morning and evening is better than at noon.

Turmeric tea and milk : The curcumin compound in turmeric starch has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, so it is very good for your health. Drinking turmeric tea or milk in cold weather helps reduce joint pain, body aches and muscle inflammation, and helps you sleep better.

The antioxidant properties of turmeric also improve immunity and repair cell damage. Make turmeric tea by adding a teaspoon of turmeric to boiling water along with ginger and a little honey.

To make turmeric milk, heat a cup of milk, then add 1/2 cup of cold water and a pinch of turmeric. If you like it sweet, you can add a pinch of sugar.

Hot soy milk : Soybeans contain many vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, E, K, B6, protein..., which are very good nutrients to keep the body warm. Soy milk also contains isoflavones that can compensate for the lack of estrogen hormone in older women, which can affect sleep.

Herbal tea : Chrysanthemum, lotus, jasmine have a mild cooling effect, help purify the liver, especially reduce symptoms of dry mouth, mouth ulcers or dry eyes caused by the weather. These are symptoms that can cause difficulty sleeping, insomnia. These flowers also contain flavonoids that can prevent aging, eliminate cholesterol, prevent fatty blood disease and cardiovascular complications.

Dr. Tra Phuong noted that many people often drink a lot of tea and coffee in the cold season, which makes it more difficult to sleep. These drinks should be limited, especially from afternoon to evening. Supplementing with natural essences from blueberry and ginkgo biloba has the effect of increasing blood flow to the brain, improving nerve connections, and supporting better sleep.
