Can Tho reorganizes health system after merger

Can Tho Department of Health proposed transferring 103 medical stations from health centers to directly under the People's Committees of wards and communes, and at the same time reorganizing a series of hospitals, health centers and other public service units.

On September 29, a source from Tuoi Tre Online said that the Can Tho City Department of Health has sent a proposal to the Can Tho City Department of Home Affairs to arrange public service units and organizations within the state administrative system.

Accordingly, the Can Tho Center for Disease Control will be reorganized on the basis of merging the old Can Tho City Center for Disease Control, the Soc Trang Provincial Center for Disease Control and the old Hau Giang Provincial Center for Disease Control.

Other units such as the Center for Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing of Can Tho City, the Center for Medical Examination of Can Tho City, the Center for Forensic Medicine of Can Tho City, and the Center for Social Work of Can Tho City were also reorganized on the basis of merging the corresponding units of Soc Trang province and the former Hau Giang province.

Notably, the Can Tho Department of Health proposed to reorganize a series of hospitals including: Can Tho City Tuberculosis and Lung Hospital to become Can Tho City Lung Hospital, Hau Giang Provincial General Hospital to become Hau Giang General Hospital, Soc Trang Provincial General Hospital to become Soc Trang General Hospital.

Reorganize other hospitals such as: Dermatology Hospital, Eye - Dental Hospital, Hematology - Blood Transfusion Hospital, Oncology Hospital, Mental Hospital, Can Tho City General Hospital... A total of 32 hospitals, regional medical centers and other public service units under the Can Tho Department of Health are included in the above reorganization.

In addition, Can Tho Department of Health also proposed transferring 103 health stations (including station points) belonging to regional health centers to the People's Committees of communes and wards.

The health station has the function of providing professional and technical services in the following fields: disease prevention, medical examination, primary treatment and rehabilitation, care for mothers and children, the elderly, food safety, ensuring medicine, vaccines, basic medical equipment, population, social protection and other health services according to the provisions of law.

In addition to the proposed arrangement plan as mentioned above, the Can Tho City Department of Health also said that it is completing the submission to the competent authority to issue regulations on the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the agencies and affiliated units after the merger and consolidation according to the new model.
