Cooking together
These days, social networking sites are flooded with status lines of sharing, directed towards the provinces and cities that have suffered heavy damage caused by storm No. 10. In Tuyen Quang , floods have caused a lot of damage. In this context, along with the responsible, proactive and continuous participation of Party committees and authorities at all levels, people in the flooded areas have also received a lot of sharing from thousands of people inside and outside the province.
It is not possible to count how many units, organizations, and individuals have been supporting the government and people in flooded areas. Those who have large rooms and houses are allowing people in flooded areas to move there and stay, even providing free food and drinks; those who have vehicles are willing to transport relief supplies for free; those who have necessities are supporting; those who can cook rice are supporting meals; those who know how to drive boats are participating in rescuing people who are trapped and isolated; those who have time are supporting the distribution of meals and participating in on-duty at flooded areas.

Some people act as "connectors" between those in need of support and rescue forces, associations, and volunteer groups. Everyone is racing against time, with the desire to help as many people in need as possible.
In addition to the movement of sending life jackets and essential supplies, the campaign of cooking relief rice for flood-affected areas also received support from many people. Many articles and videos about the relief rice cooking activities were shared across the internet, helping to spread the message of love, sharing and the spirit of mutual love in the community.
Not only responding with thousands of "likes" or comments of praise, more and more people are joining in cooking rice to give to people in flooded areas. Many people spend their time and effort to package thousands of portions of rice, hoping to bring a little warmth to people in flooded areas who are suffering from the cold and many difficulties and inconveniences due to natural disasters.
Ms. Nguyen Khanh Ha, Bac Quang commune confided: "Seeing people suffering so much, their houses flooded, no food, I cannot sit still. We call on everyone to contribute together."
With the spirit of "whoever has what, bring it", makeshift kitchens were formed. There was no clear division of hierarchy or tasks, everyone voluntarily rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Rice, meat, vegetables, spices... were collected from what was left after the storm. The smell of kitchen smoke wafted in the air, the sound of pots and pans quickly overwhelmed the sound of pouring rain. In just 3 days of storms and floods, her group mobilized more than 30 people, maintained the fire at 4 cooking sites, and promptly provided over 1,000 meals to people in flooded areas.

At other gathering points in Ha Giang 1 and 2 wards, the rice cooking movement was equally exciting. Ms. Tran Thi Van, Ha Giang 1 ward shared: “I saw that my family had few eggs and few vegetables in the garden. I brought some more to contribute and cooked with everyone. Although it was hard, seeing people receiving hot meals and their faces less tired made us happy.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa, a volunteer in Ha Giang 2 ward, said: “Seeing the images of people in the flood-affected areas suffering and losing, I cannot sit still. Although I only contribute a small part, I hope that the meals we cook will help them ease some of their current difficulties.”
Sharing with compatriots
The community’s efforts have been well received and coordinated by local authorities and socio-political organizations. In Vi Xuyen commune, the commune’s Fatherland Front together with the people prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for isolated households. On October 1, nearly 2,000 meals were cooked at 4 delivery points to isolated families.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Chairwoman of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, said: From 4 a.m., everyone gathered together to prepare breakfast and ingredients for lunch and dinner. Everyone wanted to contribute to help people overcome the current difficulties. Meals cooked with everyone's support further increased the spirit of solidarity and sharing in the community.

There are also many free rice cooking points in the province, thousands of meals are cooked every day by sharing, people contributing labor, people contributing money to help many families overcome difficulties. Mr. Mai Quoc Sy, Chiem Hoa commune shared: "The water rose quickly, our family did not have time to move, receiving free meals from the people, we were very touched. Surely these will be the best meals we have ever eaten."
On the afternoon of October 1, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee provided emergency support of 1,000 boxes of instant noodles, more than 300 boxes of water, 300 combos of necessities and mobilized the police and military forces to deliver them to people in Ha Giang wards 1 and 2 who were isolated due to rising floodwaters. In addition, the Provincial Red Cross Society also launched a call for support for people in flooded areas and received the first ton of rice relief goods donated by the Sang Nhung Safe Food Production and Processing Cooperative. Tuyen Quang Provincial Youth Union also promptly established volunteer youth groups to support people in cleaning up and overcoming the consequences.
Currently, there are no statistics on the quantity of goods, vehicles, materials, machinery and equipment that units, businesses and philanthropists have supported localities and people in flood-affected areas in the province. We only know that this support is necessary, contributing to the urgent support of localities to help people in flood-affected areas stabilize their lives and production soon...
There are still many touching stories about other kind hearts and noble deeds. It is their deeds that have helped our lives become more beautiful, giving the people after the flood more strength to have more confidence in tomorrow to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and soon stabilize their lives.
