The information was given at the conference to review the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 9 months of the year, organized by the People's Committee of An Giang province on the morning of October 15.
Specifically, the functional forces of An Giang province discovered 1,286 violations related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, administratively handled 1,360 cases, and collected more than 211 billion VND for the state budget - a very remarkable number for the locality in recent years.
According to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thong Nhat, the market situation in the area is generally stable, essential goods are fully supplied, there is no speculation, hoarding or unreasonable price increases. However, smuggling and illegal transportation of prohibited goods from Cambodia to Vietnam still takes place, especially foreign cigarettes and drugs. On the sea route, illegal transshipment and trading of DO oil continues.
Domestically, acts of trading in smuggled, counterfeit, poor quality, mislabeled or unknown origin goods still occur sporadically.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, Head of Steering Committee 389 An Giang, emphasized that the last 3 months of the year is the "sprint" period, requiring departments and branches to deploy a peak inspection and handling on all three border - sea - inland routes, focusing on key groups of goods such as drugs, foreign cigarettes, DO oil, sugar, cosmetics - functional foods, electronics and gold.
The province also assigned the Border Guard, Police, Customs, and Market Management forces to closely coordinate, track down, and eradicate smuggling and trade fraud rings, especially online trading of prohibited goods.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called for the participation of the whole society, increased propaganda so that people and businesses can identify and denounce violations, contributing to protecting legitimate businesses, consumer rights and state budget revenue.
