Filmmaker Sean Baker won the Oscar for Best Director for Anora, about a stripper and prostitute who gets the chance to live like a princess when she marries the son of a Russian oligarch.

Sean Baker was highly appreciated when he won the Outstanding Director award after receiving many prestigious awards from the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and the Outstanding Director award at the Independent Spirit Awards.

Anora has received many awards: Palme d'Or 2024, was named one of the ten best films of 2024 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute and won two awards from the British Film Academy. The film received 6 Oscar nominations, winning Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Original Screenplay, Best Film Editing and Best Director.
