Azerbaijan, Armenia move closer to peace

Azerbaijan and Armenia announced on March 13 that they had concluded talks aimed at resolving their decades-long conflict and had agreed on the text of a potential peace treaty, according to AFP.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov confirmed that Armenia has accepted Azerbaijan's proposals on two previously unresolved provisions of the peace treaty. The Armenian Foreign Ministry also confirmed that, saying that "the peace agreement is ready for signing".

The two sides fought two wars for control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region before Azerbaijan retook the entire region in a lightning offensive in September 2023.
