The land used to be a garbage transfer site in Vinh Loc residential area was built into a nearly 6-hectare park by Binh Tan district, giving residents more places to play.
On November 30, Binh Tan district put into use the central park of Vinh Loc residential area, Binh Hung Hoa B ward, after half a year of construction with a cost of 19 billion VND. The park is surrounded by routes 3, 8, 10 and Binh Thanh, including the following items: walking paths, natural lakes, green areas, community activity grounds, parking lots, auxiliary works and lighting systems.
The highlight is the central landscape lake, with an area of nearly 6,500 square meters. The existing lake was renovated and surrounded by a safety fence higher than one meter. Around the lake is a brick-paved path, nearly two meters wide, which divides into many walking paths throughout the park.
Mr. Vu Chi Kien, Vice Chairman of Binh Tan District People's Committee, said that Vinh Loc residential area project was approved in 1999 with an area of 112 hectares, according to the plan there will be a central green park of nearly 6 hectares. In more than 20 years of construction, the project has changed its appearance from rice fields to a modern urban area, but the park has not yet taken shape due to problems in compensation and planning adjustment issues.
During that time, this place became a garbage transfer point, causing pollution and traffic disorder. Currently, the garbage transfer point has been moved to another location outside the residential area.

Ho Chi Minh City has about 400 parks, including public parks and residential areas, with more than 235,000 trees. In particular, inner-city districts have larger park areas than suburban areas. The total planned land area for green parks in the city is more than 11,400 hectares, equivalent to 7 square meters per person, but in reality it is very low, only about 500 hectares. With a permanent population of about 10 million people in the city, the above ratio only reaches an average of 0.55 square meters per person.
In the medium-term capital plan for the period 2021-2025, the Department of Planning and Investment is assigned to review and advise the city on supplementing projects for developing parks and public green trees, ensuring that in the next two years the urban green tree area in the area reaches at least 0.65 m2/person.
Currently, Binh Tan district has about 800,000 people, the most populous among the districts in Ho Chi Minh City.
