2024 Olympic medal table on the morning of August 6: The top position changes hands again

The Chinese sports delegation reclaimed the top spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic medal table from the United States after winning two more gold medals on the 10th official day of competition.

China reclaimed the top spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic medal table from the United States after winning two more gold medals on the 10th official day of competition (August 5).

The two gold medals that the Chinese sports delegation won on August 5 came from Shooting and Gymnastics.

Li Yuehong won the men's 25m rapid fire pistol final, China's 20th gold medal and they overtook the United States to return to the top of the medal table.

This achievement helped China to be the top team in Shooting with 5 gold medals, surpassing other teams competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Before Li Yuehong, the four Shooting Gold medals that China had belonged to Huang Yuting-Sheng Lihao, Xie Yu, Sheng Lihao and Liu Yukun.

Also on yesterday's competition day, athlete Zou Jingyuan successfully defended his gold medal in the parallel bars event with 16,200 points to bring home the 21st gold medal for China.

With this achievement, the Chinese Sports Delegation quickly returned to the top of the 2024 Paris Olympic medal table with 21 Gold medals, 18 Silver medals and 14 Bronze medals.

Meanwhile, the US Sports Delegation only won 1 more Gold medal from the Discus Throw event of Athletics.

In the Women's Discus Throw final, Valarie Allman won first place with a throw of 69.5m, thereby successfully defending her Olympic Gold medal.

After 10 days of competition, the US Sports Delegation has 20 Gold medals, 30 Silver medals and 28 Bronze medals, ranking 2nd but can very well break away in the remaining competition days to win the overall number 1 position.

Australia has another gold medal in the slalom event after Noemie Fox won the women's slalom kayak event.

This achievement helps Australia surpass host France to take 3rd place in the 2024 Olympic medal table.

Australia currently has 13 Gold medals, 11 Silver medals and 18 Bronze medals. Australia is 1 Gold medal ahead of France, but is behind in Silver and Bronze medals.

The UK sports delegation has 2 more gold medals from Cycling and Athletics, thereby continuing to rank 5th with 12 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 17 bronze medals.

Yesterday, Great Britain won the Gold medal in track cycling. In the women's team sprint, the Great Britain girls beat New Zealand. Their time of 45.186 seconds also set a new world record.

Next, female athlete Keely Hodgkinson excellently won the Gold medal in the women's 800m race in Athletics.

The Korean sports delegation won 1 more Gold medal from Badminton, bringing their total number of Gold medals to 11, thereby ranking 6th in the medal table.

An Se-young was the one who brought home the 11th Gold medal for Korea after defeating Chinese opponent He Bingjiao 2-0 (21-13, 21-16) in the Badminton women's singles final.

Notably, this is Korea's first women's singles badminton gold medal since 1996.

The Japanese sports delegation also won its 10th Gold medal to rank 7th, after Shinnosuke Oka won the men's horizontal bar event in Gymnastics.

At the end of the test, Japanese athlete Shinnosuke Oka achieved an average score of 14.533. This achievement also helped Shinnosuke Oka complete a hat-trick of 2024 Olympic Gold medals.

Up to this point, a total of 73 sports delegations have won at least 1 medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Notably, Southeast Asian sports also had 4 teams winning medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics: the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The Philippines team was the most impressive with Carlos Edriel Yulo (Gymnastics) winning 2 Gold medals. Thailand had 1 Silver medal after Kunlavut Vitidsarn lost to Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in the Badminton men's singles final.

The Malaysian sports delegation has 2 Bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, while Indonesia also has 1 Bronze medal.
